Fine Arts Club

The Fine Arts Club of Fargo is an organization of men and women who have many and varied interests. Currently, there are eight sections whose members meet once or twice a month, usually September through May, to explore, appreciate, and enjoy specific areas of interest. Membership is open to interested individuals. Dues are $50 per year for one section and $5 for each additional section. Other fees vary from section to section.

ART: The goal of this section is to encourage appreciation and knowledge in the field of art. Its members include both active artists and those who enjoy art in its many forms. Meetings of the Art Section are held the first and third Tuesdays at 1 p.m.

DRAMA:This section enjoys the many aspects of theatre. The yearly programs of the Drama Section often include individual or group readings, biographies, and discussions or reviews of past or current plays. Drama Section meets on the first and third Mondays at 1 p.m.

GARDEN: Garden section meets monthly from March through October, usually on the fourth Monday at 1 p.m.. Programs frequently include field trips to gardens and other locations of interest.

HISTORY:People, places, and events, and their relationship to past and present, are the subjects of the programs presented by the members of the History Section. The current year’s theme is the Sixties. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday at 10 a.m.

INVESTMENT: This section meets year-round the third Thursday at 1:30 p.m. August, November and March are educational meetings. The remaining months are devoted to stock analysis.

CREATIVE LIVING: The Creative Living Section meets the second and fourth Thursdays at 1 p.m., luncheons at 12:30. Programs cover a wide variety of topics including decorating, art, food, health and social concerns.

SPORTS: The main activity of this section is the Sports Section Bowling League which meets every Thursday at 12:20 at the Bowler. Scrabble meets every Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the clubhouse, MAH Jongg meets Tueadays at 9:30, and golf is added in the spring, call officers for details. The annual schedule also includes two luncheons and a brunch.

BOOK: This group meets monthly on the first Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and the second Tuesday at 1 p.m. for an informal discussion of a selected book. A list of the nine selected books is available at the clubhouse.

ANNUAL FUND RAISER: For 2011 it is the Bling, Bling Showcase on October 22, 2011.
