Shimmy Sisters began because a group of Middle Eastern dance enthusiasts wanted to be thought of as equal members of a team. We believe that every dancer, no matter her level of skill, ability, or experience with dance, has something important to contribute. We come together regularly to practice our skills, sharpen our craft, and explore ourselves through Middle Eastern dance and culture.

Our focus leans more towards authentic, traditional Middle Eastern Dance forms. We come together to learn these forms as well as educate the public about this culture. We come together as a sisterhood to support one another and to grow.
