Fargo-Moorhead Opera
The Fargo-Moorhead Opera is the only professional arts group with a focus on the opera art form between Minneapolis and Boise going west-east and between Omaha and Winnipeg going south-north. As such, the FMO provides the only productions of opera available to this regional audience as well as the only opera performance opportunities for advanced vocal music students, talented amateurs, and professional singers in the area. All three of our colleges/universities offer undergraduate and/or graduate programs in applied music and music education, making the presence of an opera company particularly valuable to students planning careers in music. Having a professional opera company in Fargo-Moorhead contributes to the uniqueness of the community. Mid-sized communities like Fargo-Moorhead can set themselves apart by offering a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities to their residents, and the FMO is proud to be a small part of that.
