    About the artist:

What is your background and training as an artist? - I studied at the University of Panama as an Architecture major, and that’s how I made a living for many years. As an architecture student, I took many traditional art classes, including tree years of watercolor and drawing. I'm very influenced by Modigliani,Van Gogh, and Klimt, just to name a few.

How and where did you learn to paint? ? I went to school at the Panama National University and graduated with my BS in Architecture. I then pursued my art studies through watermedia workshops with nationally prominent artist. Can you tell us a little about your artistic style? - I love color. I use all sorts of different mixes in my paintings to get unique results. When I paint my focus is on building a balanced relationship between the elements of shape and color one that will express my own ideas about the subject. Color and shapes fuel my creativity.

We’ve heard that you’ve won some awards and have been recognized nationally? - I have won two gold medals awards in the Red River Watercolor Society National Watermedia Exhibition, my paintings "Social Studies" and "Marisol" both earned first place in 2009 and 2000 respectively. What is art, to you? - Art is an expression of the self. I paint for the pure pleasure of painting, to immerse my senses into a mix of creativity and color, where the possibilities are endless, the decision making process intense and the journey a rewarding experience.
