    About the artist:

    Wayne Grindberg, born in 1950 and raised in Mapleton, North Dakota, began his art career in Mapleton High School, completing a 4 ft by 8 ft Oil painting of a falcon, the school's mascot, for the gymnasium. In his senior year of 1968, a color pencil drawing of his was displayed in Bismark and featured in" Young Artists of North Dakota" brochure. That same year he left for Vietnam, working as Artist, Draftsman, Courier and awarded an Arcom for outstanding achievement. After his tour in the Army, he worked for 2 years as a graphic artist for an ad agency in Fargo until going to work as a freelance artist. His ads and illustrations won awards from the FM Ad Club and nationally. Hired by the Fargo Forum in 1978, he worked there for ll years in advertisng as an artist.


    In 1989, he went to work for himself again, exhibiting oil paintings and artwork. Some exhibits include: The Red River Valley Street Fair for The West Acres Art show, numerous banks and two local art galleries, the Campbell Library, East Grand Forks and Jamestown Art Centers, Bismarck Art Gallery Association, Maple River Winery, Stevens county Museum in Morris. Commissioned artworks include: a series of six calendars. Big Iron (a series of 6 Oil paintings), Midwest Auctioneers, and Fargo Assembly.


    After an auto accident in 1997, he was left handicapped with a crushed foot and a shattered hand. He continued his artwork on the computer, doing 3-D models on his own website for therapy on his hand. The models from his CD's have been sold worldwide for use in 3-D games and videos. Regaining most of the movement in his hand, in 2006 he returned to drawing and painting completing six portraits of The Ambassadors for the 319 Air Refueling Wing Command at Grand Forks Airbase. He continues to do pencil portraits and ink paintings for individuals and of their pets. Along with commissioned oils and other artwork in his home in Fargo.
